For sale is a beautiful Selmer Super Balanced Action tenor saxophone!
This horn is a prime example SBA serial #39,xxx with its matching 39,xxx neck.
The horn was produced in 1949 which is the exact same year as John Coltrane's famed SBA tenor with the split bell key guards!
This horn is being sold as not working, for parts category.
Although this horn is quite beautiful the horn is sitting on old pads as well has its fair share of various scratches, knicks, dings, fleabites, heavy patina, metal wear of various colors, and other anomalies associated with such an old antique.
The horn is extremely straight forward. The biggest thing to write about is shown in picture #24 the lip of the bell has a ding, dent, patina area on the lip.
Included is a proper Selmer case with the logo still intact on the outside, however the entire zipper is totally broken.
Included is the original SBA wood end plug which is worth a pretty penny. These have a smaller internal hole then the Mark VI 5 digit wood end plugs.
The horn features a complete set of metal resonators fully intact!
This saxophone has an extremely nice neck with it. The neck has no patches, no pickups, no major problems, no plugged holes etc. Its a really great condition neck with matching serial.
Overall the horn is an extremely nice piece. These saxophones are barley coming to market these days. The vast majority of these horns show up in total trashed condition missing necks, missing parts etc.
While this is still a used horn, the sax is just stunning in person with gorgeous sheen and hue to the engraving/lacquer.
If you have been looking for an investment grade SBA tenor, this horn is an excellent choice. Please buy and pay confidently we will ship out ASAP upon payment!
