For sale is a breathtaking gold plated Selmer Super tenor saxophone!
This horn is a prime era 1933 Selmer SSS Super Sax Series serial #17,9xx
This horn features gorgeous highly elaborate sprawling engraving with a main featured portrait engraving of a cabin side lake house on the mountains.
Its important to note how impressively rare of a saxophone this is. The Selmer Balanced Action model was known for having these style image based portrait engravings that collectors lust over. These engravings actually started on earlier Selmer horns in extremely limited amounts.
When talking gold plated Selmers generally speaking they are highly scarce to find and dont come to market often. Its much much rarer to find a gold plated Selmer tenor sax then alto. The majority of gold plated Selmers will have extremely basic floral engraving with the silk/satin style regular gold plating.
This horn features burnished gold plating which was the top shelf orderable finish. Burnished gold involves an extremely lengthy hand application process that was done by a master Selmer technician. Its this burnished gold which really helps to visually give it that glowing firefly gold hue.
Between the rare engraving, the gold plating, being a tenor sax and the overall fantastic condition of the sax it really makes this horn a highly scarce stand out collectors piece. There cant be more then a few handful of these floating around in this condition.
This horn is being sold as used and while its quite beautiful still has its fair share of various scratches, knicks, dings, metal wear, gold plate wear, patina, flea bites and other used anomalies associated with an old vintage instrument.
This saxophone comes with a random non original Selmer case.
The neck strap hook was replaced at one point.
Its important to note this sax is extremely hard to take photos of. The horn is just jaw dropping beautiful in real life. The horn is extremely gold in tint/color and is highly reflective and shiny. When you take photos of the horn this glowing gold hue just doesn't get captured in the pictures how your eye picks it up in real life.
Some of the pictures were taken with photo lights and some of the pictures were taken with sunlight, but one things for sure you will LOVE how this horn looks in the hands!
